Social Groups For Preschoolers and School-Aged Children

Children with Learning difficulties, Language delays, Autism, Attention issues or Anxiety can have trouble with social skills. Our groups can help to improve conversational, friendship and problem-solving skills. We have clinicians experienced in running social skills group programs and they also provide helpful strategies to parents. Groups provide an opportunity to learn how to control emotions, manage sensory needs and to understand other people’s perspectives. Children need to have a foundation of social skills to develop meaningful friendships in life.

These skills include:

  • Greeting others
  • Initiating a conversation
  • Responding to others
  • Maintaining a conversation
  • Sharing and Showing
  • Taking turns
  • Asking for help

We offer group programs run on a needs basis. All groups are carefully planned to meet areas of challenge and developmental levels. In group sessions we focus on individual needs and group goals. We incorporate structured and unstructured social activities, visual supports to facilitate learning such as the Zones of Regulation chart and Social Thinking resources.
